In the series “Loki,” following his theft of the Tesseract in “Avengers: Endgame” (2019), a divergent Loki ends up in the enigmatic Time Variance Authority (TVA). This bureaucratic entity operates beyond the confines of time and space, overseeing the fabric of reality. Faced with the prospect of being erased as a “time variant,” Loki must make a choice – cooperate in repairing the timeline and confronting an imminent peril, or face oblivion. This journey takes Loki into a captivating crime thriller filled with time-travel as he embarks on a quest to track down Sylvie, a female variant of himself.

Post his 2012 escape with the Tesseract, Loki’s actions disrupt the timeline, leading to his capture by the Time Variance Authority (TVA). They unveil the Time-Keepers’ mission to maintain a single timeline, charging Loki with crimes against it. Facing judgment, he’s saved by TVA agent Mobius M. Mobius, setting him on a path to apprehend a variant of himself causing havoc.
Loki assists the TVA on a mission to apprehend a variant of himself. When he manipulates the situation to meet the Time-Keepers, the TVA resets the timeline. Loki and Mobius research apocalyptic events, suspecting the Variant hides there. They confront the Variant, a female Loki, who creates chaos by branching multiple timelines.
Before Loki and the TVA arrive in 2050 Alabama, Sylvie, the Variant, infiltrates C-20’s mind to uncover the Time-Keepers’ location. Back at the TVA, Loki and Sylvie attempt to reach the Time-Keepers but are intercepted by Judge Renslayer. They escape to 2077 Lamentis-1, their TemPad damaged. Bonding, they face danger on a doomed moon.
Years ago, Hunter Renslayer arrests a young Sylvie, erasing her timeline. In the present, Mobius uncovers the TVA’s deceit. On the moon Lamentis-1, Sylvie and Loki connect romantically, causing a Nexus Event. Back at TVA, Mobius questions Loki’s feelings for Sylvie. They confront Renslayer and the Time-Keepers. Sylvie beheads one of them, revealing them to be androids. Renslayer prunes Loki. In a mid-credits scene, Loki meets other variants.
In the Void, TVA Judge Renslayer is clueless about the TVA’s creator and seeks their identity. Sylvie, cornered by the TVA, prunes herself to avoid capture. Loki joins other Loki variants who reveal Alioth, a deadly creature in the Void. Sylvie escapes Alioth with the help of Mobius, who chooses to expose the TVA’s deception. Meanwhile, Classic Loki distracts Alioth by creating an illusion of Asgard, sacrificing himself. Loki and Sylvie join forces to enchant Alioth and discover a mysterious citadel beyond the Void.
Loki and Sylvie confront He Who Remains in the Citadel, refusing his offer. Meanwhile, Judge Renslayer receives a message from him. At the TVA, Mobius and Renslayer have a tense conversation. Sylvie kills He Who Remains, fracturing the multiverse. Loki’s warning to the TVA goes unheeded as statues of He Who Remains’ variants appear.
